MOSCOW

* Federation Council (parliament's upper house) Speaker Sergei Mironov will meet with military conscripts in the Moscow region (10:30 a.m.).

* The State Duma will host a roundtable on Russia's role in major international organizations (the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the Council of Europe) organized by the lower house's international affairs committee. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and presidential aide for EU relations Sergei Yastrzhembsky will attend (3:00 p.m.).

* The Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime will hold an international seminar for CIS member-states on international counter-terrorism cooperation (November 28-30).

* Deputy head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources Kirill Komarov will hold a news conference on the forecast of water pollution in the Amur River and Russia's preparations to prevent an ecological disaster (Izvestia media center; 2:00 p.m.).

* The Interfax news agency will host the following news conferences:

- with head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare Gennady Onishchenko on World AIDS Day (11:00 a.m.);

- on the results of the poll on the Electronic Russia federal target program (2:00 p.m.).

* RIA Novosti will host the following news conferences:

- the Moscow Duma elections as a prologue of the 2008 State Duma elections (12:00 p.m.);

- local self-government against political dictatorship (1:00 p.m.).

* The Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a news conference on the Golden Mercury 2005 national business awards and Russia's Economic Revival 2005 business contest (11:00 a.m.).

* The trial of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and seven other Baath leaders will resume.

* The first conference of the high-level UN group for the new initiative Alliance of Civilizations will open (November 28-29). The project, aimed at dialogue between the West and East, was backed by many countries, including Russia. The group includes notable public figures, including former heads of state and government.
