TBILISI, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Merab Antadze said Wednesday that a Georgian parliamentarian was denied entrance visa to Russia due to political motives.

"This is an unprecedented case, when a country that hosts an international event refuses to receive a high-ranking official due to political motives," Antadze said.

The Georgian delegation refused to participate in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Parliamentary session, scheduled for November 17-18, after the Russian Embassy in Georgia allegedly denied an entrance visa for Givi Targamadze, the chair of the parliament's committee on security and defense.

The Russian Embassy to Georgia said in an official statement that it had issued visas for all delegates from Georgia.
