NALCHIK, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - A former prisoner of the Guantanamo U.S. naval base in Cuba was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the October 13 attack on the North Caucasus city of Nalchik, a source in Kabardino-Balkaria's law enforcement bodies said Tuesday.

Rasul Kudayev, 24, was arrested October 23 and sent to a pre-trial detention center, the source said, adding that no charges had been brought against the suspect yet.

U.S. troops detained Kudayev and seven other Russian citizens during military operations in Afghanistan and sent them to Guantanamo.

In 2005, Kudayev was released on lack of evidence and returned to Russia.

The United States opened a detention center for terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay following the 9/11 attacks.
