MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is to have eight deputies, including one first deputy, the presidential press service said Wednesday.

Earlier, the foreign minister had seven deputies. According to a new presidential decree, the deputies will include one state secretary. President Putin has appointed Grigory Karasin, the former Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom, to this post.

Former Russian ambassador to Bulgaria, Vladimir Titov, has been appointed deputy foreign minister.

Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a resolution in August 2005 to introduce the post of "state secretary - deputy minister" in government ministries. State secretaries deal with organizing the ministries' legislative work, and represent draft laws in parliament.
