LUXEMBOURG, October 12 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - Russian-EU draft agreements on simplification of visa procedures and readmission were initialed in Luxembourg Wednesday.

Luxembourg assumes EU presidency on January 1, 2006.

Russian president's aide Viktor Ivanov and Vice President of the European Commission Franco Frattini, who are responsible for the formation of the Russia-EU "common space of freedom, security and justice", signed the documents.

Visa facilitation includes easing visa restrictions for certain categories of Russian and EU citizens, namely students, researchers, politicians, diplomats, and businessmen.

Readmission means Russia must accept deported immigrants that had illegally entered the EU from Russian territory. Earlier, Russia refused to readmit third-country citizens who had arrived in the EU from Russian territory.
