MINSK, October 5 (RIA Novosti, Olesya Luchaninova) - Belarus will repay its remaining energy debt to Russia in 2006, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said Wednesday.
According to the agreed repayment schedule, Belarus is set to pay about $3 million per month.
"Belarus will certainly keep to this timetable," Semashko said at the opening of the Tenth Belarusian Energy and Environment Congress.
By the end of next year, Belarus will have fully repaid its debt, including late payment charges and interest accumulated since 1998, he said.
The debt now totals $115 million, down from $316.7 million at the beginning of 2002, Semashko said.
