NOVOSIBIRSK, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll in a tragedy that struck a ship in Siberia has risen to 13, a local official said Thursday.

Divers found five more bodies on board the Nekrasov, a cargo-and-passenger ship that capsized six days ago near the port of Dudinka, in the north of Western Siberia.

"The fears that there could be more victims have been confirmed," Vyacheslav Shchukin, the deputy governor of the Taimyr autonomous district, said.

"The divers are continuing to examine the ship because we have to make sure there are no more bodies left," he added.

Rescue workers had earlier recovered the bodies of the captain, the chief officer and six passengers.

According to preliminary reports, seventeen people were onboard the Nekrasov, which capsized about 100 meters from the shore. Three crew members and four passengers managed to swim to safety.

Investigators are considering three versions of the tragedy: cargo overload, bad weather, and human error.
