MOSCOW, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - The Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which comprises the former Soviet republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, held a meeting in Moscow Tuesday.

The members discussed financial issues related to the regular operations of the command and the permanent task force of the Headquarters of Rapid Deployment Forces in the Central Asian region, the organization's secretariat said.

The permanent representatives at the CSTO also considered opening an expanded education facility for police and other security officers where they would be trained to counter security challenges and threats to the CSTO countries.

They also said the organization's legal basis needed to be improved to address new challenges and threats.
