SVETLOGORSK, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian-German-French summit has opened in Svetlogorsk, a resort in the Kaliningrad region (the Russian exclave on the Baltic Sea).

Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted his guests, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and French President Jacques Chirac, at the entrance to the Rus Hotel on the Baltic Sea shore.

The three leaders were photographed and then had tea on the terrace.

Schroeder and Chirac thanked Putin for inviting them to the celebrations of Kaliningrad's 750th anniversary.

Chirac said it was a good occasion for the sixth trilateral meeting.

The last Russian-German-French summit took place in Putin's residence in Sochi (a Russian resort on the Black Sea) last August. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero was asked to the summit in March 2005.
