VLADIVOSTOK, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - The damage from the foot-and-mouse spread in the Amursk region (in the Far East, near the Chinese border) already exceeded $250,000.

According to the local administration, compensation will be paid to the people deprived of their cattle.

According to the Far Eastern regional center of the Emergencies Ministry, the village Busse will remain in isolation till July 13. The cattle in the village are now re-vaccinated. The villagers will only be allowed to buy livestock vaccinated against the A1 virus three months after the quarantine is over.

Busse is located near the Russian-Chinese border. The disease was caused by the A1 virus that had not been registered in Russia before.

Experts say the virus got into Russia from China. The first reports about foot-and-mouse came from private farms on June 6. The area was isolated to prevent further spread of the disease, and about 230 heads of livestock were slaughtered.
