MOSCOW, June 30 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian-EU summit could be held in early October, British Ambassador to Russia Tony Brenton said here Thursday.

"Our task is to fill all gaps in roadmaps before the summit," the ambassador said at a new? conference on Great Britain's upcoming EU presidency.

During the EU presidency, the UK is set to use the successful experience of Luxembourg's presidency when an agreement on the four common spaces was achieved, Brenton said.

When Britain assumes the EU presidency, the cooperation with Russia will focus on promoting energy dialogue and socio-economic recovery in the North Caucasus.

The ambassador said he would like to boost Russian-EU energy dialogue.

Energy ministers will discuss this issue before and after the October summit, he said.

The EU will also focus on conflict settlement in the post-Soviet space, particularly, in Moldova and Georgia, Brenton said.

Head of the European Commission's office in Russia Mark Franco said the commission is striving for achieving agreements on the easing of visa regulations and readmission by the October summit.

The agreements are nearly drafted, he said adding that next talks on these issues are due in Brussels in mid-July.

Russia has agreed to accept illegal migrants from the Schengen zone, however, relevant agreements with third countries should be signed beforehand, Franco said.
