NOVO-OGARYOVO, June 28 (RIA Novosti) - At a meeting with President Putin, Uzbek President Islam Karimov compared the Andijan unrest with the velvet revolutions that had swept other former Soviet republics.

According to Karimov, if he had said that security issues did not worry the country's authorities, it would be a lie or an attempt to evade journalists' questions, which are natural and clear.

According to him, it does not matter what you call the revolutions, orange or tulip.

"In essence, these events (that could be called operations) are carried out in the CIS in a brazen manner, and remain unpunished," said Karimov. They arouse questions inside and outside Uzbek borders, he concluded.
