"The intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation is working proactively," he said.
Kovacevic positively appraised bilateral relations.
"A plan for bilateral cooperation was worked out during Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit to Croatia," the ambassador said. "The plan is being strictly implemented."
The diplomat also pointed to growing Russian-Croatian trade and economic links.
"In 2004, bilateral trade and economic turnover grew by 76% from $752 million to $1.32 billion," he said.
According to Kovacevic, major investments are needed to neutralize remaining mines in Croatia. The country's government lacks money to neutralize the mines, he said.
However, all tourism areas are absolutely safe, he said.
The flow of foreign tourists to Croatia is constantly growing, Kovacevic said.
"More than 8,000 Russian tourists visited Croatia between January and May 2005 as compared to 6,000 in the same period in 2004."
