TEHRAN, June 16 (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Terekhov) - The Iranian foreign ministry's official spokesman Khamid Reza Assefi has disproved reports about Iran's implication in the exposure of the renowned Pakistani nuclear physicist Abdul Kadir Khan who used to smuggle nuclear technologies of double designation abroad. Assefi suggests that certain mass media have distorted statements by one Iranian diplomat.

It was a while ago that certain Western media with reference to Sirus Naseri, Iran's representative in Tehran-EU talks on Iranian nuclear programs, spread information about Iran's close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in investigating into the said Pakistani physicist's illegal activities.

Tehran had earlier denied any possibility of cooperating with Pakistan in the exploration of nuclear technologies. But Iran does not rule out that certain Pakistani parts, for instance, for peaceful-designation centrifuge equipment could reach Iran through intermediaries.
