MOSCOW, June 12 (RIA Novosti) - Channel One, a leading Russian state-owned TV network, is broadcasting the joint Russian-European documentary "The Kremlin From Inside" today, marking Day of Russia, the national holiday.

The press service of Channel One described the 30-month 1-million project of Austria, France, Germany, and Russia as a very unusual insight into the Kremlin. The camera targets ordinary people - a cook, a janitor, a guard, a cleaning woman, and an electrician - working at the heart of Russia's power.

"Four years ago, German NDR journalists Natalia Kasperovic and Eric Friedler came up with an idea to make a film about ordinary people working at the Kremlin. Thomas Schreiber, the man in charge of political and arts programs at German broadcasting network ARD, joined in and soon fell in love with Russia and did his best to translate the idea into reality," Channel One says.

Alexei Pimanov, CEO of Russia's Ostankino TV company, successfully promoted the project in Russia. With his help, the work finally began after two years of negotiations. Alexander Gorodnitsky, who was an underground composer in Soviet times, wrote the music.

Up to 70% of the budget went on unique "flying cameras" that filmed the Kremlin from a height of 80 meters from wires stretched between two cranes.

"After a broadcast in Germany, the film aroused a wave of interest in Russia: People buy tours to the country to see the Kremlin," the channel said.
