BISHKEK, May 14 (RIA Novosti's Yulia Orlova) - The border service of Kyrgyzstan has detained over 500 refugees from Uzbekistan, Secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council Miroslav Niyazov told RIA Novosti.

"The border service of Kyrgyzstan has detained 528 border trespassers who are refugees as a matter of fact. We are thoroughly checking them," Niyazov said.

We have already found 12 convicts who were released by rebels from Andizhan's prison two days ago, he added.

He does not rule out that armed Uzbek militants can penetrate into Kyrgyzstan.

It is possible but not confirmed yet, Niyazov said.

In his words, about 3,000 people wishing to enter Kyrgyzstan gathered on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.

The border checkpoint on the border between Uzbekistan's Kurgantepa region and Kyrgyzstan's Karasuu region has stopped its work, he reported.

According to RIA Novosti's information, the buildings of customs and borders checkpoints on this section are empty. Both Kyrgyz and Uzbek border guards have left their posts.

The Kyrgyz leadership will hold "proactive talks with the Uzbek side at all levels," Miroslav Niyazov emphasized.
