The Russian public should not have any doubts on this score," he said.

"Of course, we agree with our colleagues, that past problems have influenced some steps of our closest neighbors. We do not disregard this fact," said Putin.

Putin recalled the statement Jean-Claude Juncker, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, the country that is holding the rotating EU chairmanship, made at the Eternal Flame in Luxembourg on May 8. Juncker "expressed special thanks to the Russian people and Russian soldiers who returned freedom and the sun above (to many countries(." "I would like to take the opportunity to thank him in public for such an assessment," said the president.

"We believe this is our European partners' position," he added.

Putin said Russia and the EU would fight against all forms of Nazism "quietly and together." "Hopefully we will not see that (Nazi phenomena( in the near future," said Putin.
