WARSAW, May 7 (RIA Novosti, Leonid Sviridov) - A traveling RIA Novosti photo exhibition called "The People Who Won the War" is to open May 9 in the Polish capital.

The official opening ceremony will take place in old Warsaw's Art-Villa gallery.

RIA Novosti will offer more than 150 unique black-and-white photos dating back to the 1941-1945 period out of Sovinformburo archives. RIA Novosti is Sovinformburo's legal successor. Copies of declassified documents out of the State Defense Committee's archives will be shown in Warsaw. Those documents were signed by Josef Stalin.

Nikolai Afanasyevsky, Russia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland, CIS Ambassadors and representatives of municipal authorities, are to open this exhibition.

A large delegation of Soviet war veterans, who had liberated Warsaw, is to attend the opening ceremony.

The exhibition will last until May 23.

The traveling RIA Novosti photo exhibition first opened in September 2004 at the Polish Press Agency's Warsaw headquarters. The exhibition subsequently traveled all over Poland, opening in Gdansk, Krakow, Poznan and Olsztyn.
