MOSCOW, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - The worsening of Japanese-Chinese relations will have a negative effect on Russia's interests. Sergei Rogov, director of the U.S. and Canadian Studies Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, voiced this opinion at the RIA Novosti press conference on Wednesday.
"Relations between Russia and Japan pose a very serious problem. Japan has territorial disputes with not only Russia but also China and Korea. The worsening of Japanese-Chinese relations may negatively tell on the Russian interests", the politologist said.
In his opinion, the problem is that a generation seeking revival of the former imperial ambitions is coming to power in Japan.
"The worsening of Japanese-Chinese relations may result in attempts of certain forces to try use the present situation for revising the constitution of Japan with subsequent conduct of a tough use-of-force policy", Sergei Rogov believes.
"This will negatively tell on the Russian interests", he is convinced.
