MOSCOW, February 17 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) will not exhume Salman Raduyev's body, according to an FSIN statement.

"Russia's FSIN is not authorized to carry out exhumation and cannot initiate it," the statement notes.

"Some media have distorted the meaning of the statements" FSIN director Yuri Kalinin said at a Moscow briefing February 16 on Raduyev's exhumation, according to the statement.

"The press conference announced that the death of the condemned Raduyev was natural and resulted from serious and protracted diseases. If the court and investigators had had doubts about the reasons of his death, relevant measures would have been taken when necessary," the statement notes.

Raduyev died in penitentiary 14 of Solikamsk in the Perm region, where he was serving a life sentence for terrorism, murders and other grave crimes, and for masterminding the bandit attack on Kizlyar, Daghestan in the North Caucasus in 1996. According to forensic experts, he died on December 14, 2002 of blood vessel inflammation. No signs of violence were found on his body.
