S-300 AIR DEFENSE COMPLEX TO GUARD BRATISLAVA SKIES DURING RUSSIAN-US SUMMIT

BRATISLAVA, February 6 (RIA Novosti, Leonid Sviridov) - Slovakia plans to use the S-300 air defense complex to ensure security during the February summit between Vladimir Putin and George Bush, writes the Slovakian Pravda newspaper.

The Russian-US presidential summit will take place in Bratislava on February 23-25.

The S-300 air defense complex is expected to be re-deployed from Nitra (western Slovakia) to Bratislava. Five MiG-29 fighters will be also re-deployed closer to the Slovakian capital.

The Slovakian air defense will be put in a state of full readiness before the summit. The NATO allies are expected to provide necessary assistance in ensuring security during the summit. They will increase monitoring of the air space over Slovakian borders.

In Bratislava, 5,500 Slovakian police officers and 400 experts from Rescue Services will ensure the security during the summit. In addition, 400 Slovakian soldiers will provide personal security for the participants of the summit.
