URAL TRIENNIAL PRINT 2004 WINNERS NAMED

MOSCOW, November 29 (RIA Novosti) - The jury of the URAL TRIENNIAL PRINT 2004 in Ufa named four winners of this printed easel graphics competition and distributed special prizes. Those participating are 110 artists from 22 countries who submitted 238 works to the contest, the cultural information agency reported.

The jury comprises renowned artists, such as Alicia Candiani (Argentina), winner of the grand prix of the URAL TRIENNIAL PRINT 2001, and Arthur Skowronski (Poland). Their personal exhibitions were held in the Nesterov art museum.

Poland's Wieslaw Haladaj won the triennial grand-prix. Polish artists won almost 50% of the awards at the Ural competition. Slovakia, Italy, Japan, Serbia and Montenegro shared the remaining awards. Only one award went to Airat Teregulov from Ufa. The first, second and third prizes were granted to Rinat Minnebayev (Ufa), Garcia Rivera (Puerto Rico) and Tazataka Kuda (Japan) correspondingly. Olga Samosyuk (Ufa) and Alicia Diaz Rinaldo (Argentina) received special prizes.

The URAL TRIENNIAL PRINT has been held in Ufa since 1995. Its goals are to acquaint people with modern graphics in Russia and other countries and stimulate artists' interest in various graphic printing techniques.

On December 15 all showpieces will become property of the Bashkir Culture and National Policy Ministry and will be added to the collection of the Nesterov art museum.
