The exposition is timed to the Russian Language Day in Hamburg. Pupils and teachers from some 20 Hamburg schools where Russian is taught are to participate in the event.
"We are grateful to RIA Novosti for the colorful photo exposition, books and manuals in Russian, which were sent from Moscow," chairman of the Hamburg Association of Russian Language Teachers Mathias Burghardt, the initiator of the Day, told RIA Novosti.
According to him, this is a unique event in Germany, where interest in the Russian language is falling.
The program of the Russian Language Day in Hamburg aims to make children and adults interested in prospects of the "great and powerful" language learning in the modern world: familiarization with cultural values and professional opportunities for young people involved in the expansion of German-Russian multilateral cooperation, said Mr. Burghardt.
Therefore, not only schools but also German firms working with Russian partners participate in the Russian Language Day. The Russian training sailing vessel Mir staying in the port of Hamburg is a guest of the festival.
The program of the Day also includes lessons for children and adults, music and theater performances, etc.
Guests and participants will be treated only with Russian dishes.
The festival is sponsored by the Senate of Hamburg, the Robert Bosch Foundation, the municipal education department, several German public organizations, tourist firms, the Russian consulate general in Hamburg and RIA Novosti.
