MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice-President Vladimir Strashko, the commissar-general of the Russian exposition at the EXPO-2005 in Japan, believes that a mammoth head from Yakutia, Siberia, can become the fair's main attraction. The EXPO-2005 organising committee has applied to the Russian side for displaying the mammoth head in the Main pavilion, according to the commissar-general.

The mammoth head which was discovered last year in Yakutia's Ust-Yansk district excited world-wide scientific interest. The head retains well-preserved hair and tusks and there is the belief that excavations can reveal other parts of the beast's body as well.

Many questions concerning the implementation of the Japanese side's proposal have been already settled.

Vladimir Strashko has indicated that the next stage of EXPO-2005 talks to involve Russian officials will take place in Japan on April 15-16.
