GDP IN RUSSIA GREW 7.3 PER CENT LAST YEAR

MOSCOW, April 5, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The nominal gross domestic product in Russia grew in 2003 by 7.3 per cent, and amounted to 13.285 trillion roubles (about $466 billion). These figures were posted by the Russian State Statistics Service on its official web-site on Monday.

GDP in basic prices (without factoring out indirectly measured financial mediation services) totalled 11.913 trillion roubles. Of this sum, production was responsible for 4.807 trillion, and rendering of services, 7.106 trillion roubles.

In the overall volume of goods production, industrial output amounted in value terms to 3.234 trillion roubles (67 per cent), in agriculture to 616 billion (13 per cent), and in construction to 851 billion (18 per cent).

Out of all the amount of services rendered, market services accounted in money terms for 5.820 trillion roubles (82 per cent). Structurally, nearly one-fifth of the market services (19 per cent) was transport and communication services.
