MOSCOW, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - On Friday, Alexander Kravets, a State Duma deputy and a member of the KPRF Central Committee said at the press conference in Moscow that since the lost at the December 7 parliamentary elections with a mere 12% of the votes, the KPRF has been thinking over its modernization.

"Our party has been in tough conditions lately. A number of counteractions we have counted on were to no avail," Mr. Kravets said. He believes that "modernization of the party, recruiting new people and making the party tactic more flexible" will be of some help.

"Today Communist party uses methods of Social-Democrats while its main goal is to mobilize a patriotic-minded part of the population including the emerged bourgeoisie," Mr. Kravets said. Nevertheless, he noted that "social-democratic ways could not prevail in the KPRF".

When answering the RIA Novosti question, he said "Communist party does not reject its hundred years experience". "It will not convert to a social-democratic party since there is no respective base for social democracy in Russia," he stressed.

Mr. Kravets calls for establishing allied relations with the patriotic organisations. At the same time he regretted that "the KPRF's allies at the left wing are mostly virtual".

Mr. Kravets accused numerous leftist organisations of "political dependency". "Many of them are eager to enter big politics having done nothing to achieve the goal," he concluded.
