PROSECUTOR OPENS CRIMINAL CASE ON DEATH OF POLICEMEN IN CHECHNYA

GROZNY, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - The Prosecutor's Office of the Gudermes district of Chechnya filed a criminal case on the death of two policemen, a source at the office told RIA Novosti on Friday.

"A criminal case was filed under the article 'infringement on a law enforcement officer's life' of the Russian Federation's Criminal Code," the source said.

According to the source, on Thursday at about 1:20 p.m., Moscow time, a MON-50 radio-controlled mine was exploded near a post office on Valentiny Tereshkovoi Street in Gudermes.

"Two policemen from the Kaliningrad Region, on a mission in Chechnya, were killed instantly in the explosion," the source continued. "They were Lieutenant-Colonel Klychtagan Bairamdurdiyev and First-Sergeant Dmitry Reznikov," the source said.

According to the prosecutor, five other Kaliningrad policemen, on a mission in Chechnya, and Elina Kurbanova and Razet Astemirova, women from Dzhalka, a settlement in the Gudermes district, were wounded in the explosion.

The law enforcement bodies are searching for the individuals involved in this crime, the source said.
