MOSCOW, MARCH 31. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Russia is going to continue cooperation with Iran in the nuclear field, Alexander Rumyantsev, head of the Federal Nuclear Energy Agency, told journalists in Moscow on Wednesday.

"Iran is our strategic partner and cooperation with it will continue to develop", Rumyantsev said.

"Iran demonstrates its peaceful intentions in the nuclear field" and nothing to prove its development of nuclear arms has been established.

The head of the federal agency recalled that the Russian side is building in Iran a nuclear unit at the Bushehr power facility. According to the schedule, the unit will be started up in mid-2005, Rumyantsev specified.

At the same time, he noted that Russia's another partner, the United States, "does not very much like the development of relations between Russia and Iran".
