JAPAN TO RENDER GRATUITOUS ASSISTANCE TO UZBEKISTAN

TASHKENT, March 20, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The Japanese government has allocated 420 million yens to Uzbekistan to purchase agricultural equipment, said the Uzbek Foreign Economic Relations Agency.

The Japanese and Uzbek governments exchanged notes on gratuitous assistance to Uzbekistan as part of the Food Production Increase project. Parliamentary secretary of the Japanese Foreign Ministry Isao Matsumia, currently in Uzbekistan, signed the document on Japan's side.

He discussed further consolidation of trade and economic and scientific-technical cooperation with Uzbek Vice Premier Elyer Ganiyev, chairman of the Uzbek Foreign Economic Relations Agency.
