CIS AA EXERCISE FOR APRIL 7

TVER, MARCH 19, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI) - The united CIS anti-aircraft defense system has scheduled a command and staff exercise for April 7, Vladimir Mikhailov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, said to newsmen. He was summing up an AA coordination committee session of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which has finished in Tver, Central Russia.

The united AA defense system brings together Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The exercise will involve anti-aircraft defense forces of all countries in the system, and more than thirty aircraft, to drill action against air terrorism, prevention of member countries' air frontiers trespassed, and teamwork of units on duty with AA command points, said General Mikhailov, who will supervise the event at the central command point of the Russian Air Force.
