RUSSIA-INDIA: DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS RIGHTS PROTECTION TEAMWORK

MOSCOW, March 18, 2004.(RIA Novosti) - Yuri Fedotov, Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Shashank, his Indian counterpart, met in Geneva today during a 60th session of the UN human rights commission, reports the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press and information department.

The conferees discussed Russian-Indian team efforts to promote rights, a wide range of related bilateral issues, and efforts to remove political colouring from international rights protection activities. They also exchanged opinions on how to bring down confrontation on the UN commission.

The deputy ministers confirmed their countries' desire for closer teamwork in international organisations so as to enhance the United Nations' leading role, and buttress the pillars of the international law.
