"Democracy is an evolutionary process. I would like to congratulate President Putin and State Duma deputies of the United Russia faction on their victory. I want to understand how we could achieve the same support for the Republicans and President Bush in the US elections," chief delegate Trent Lott told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
The delegation also includes Senators Jeff Sessions (Alabama), Lamar Alexander (Tennessee), and John Cornyn (Texas).
The delegates already met with the Russian Federal Assembly deputies and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Russian Federation Council members and US Senators signed an agreement on cooperation within the framework of the inter-parliamentary working group "Federation Council - US Senate". The agreement outlines further activities of the group.
