GROZNY, March 18,2004. (RIA Novosti) -- A powerful explosive device was defused at a motor road in Chechnya, RIA Novosti was told in the regional operative headquarters in charge of control over the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
"The officers of the interim operative group of the Russian interior ministry in the North Caucasus and Grozny rural district's interior department jointly with the servicemen of the interior troops of the Russian interior ministry on the right roadside of the motor road Grozny-Shatoi discovered and withdrew a self-made explosive device," the headquarters spokesman said.
According to him, the bomb was made of a metal pipe 30 cm in diameter and 70-cm long, it was stuffed with explosives with connected wires.
