MOSCOW, March 16 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom has sent a preliminary offer to the Romanian Economy and Trade Ministry to participate in the privatization tender of Distrigaz Nord and Distrigaz Sud, Romanian natural gas distribution companies.

"Our goal in this tender is to reach end consumers in Romania," a spokesman for Gazprom said.

The terms of the tender are that 30% of one of the companies is bought with an obligatory increase to 51% by redeeming a new additional issue of shares.

Ruhrgas, Wintershall, Gaz de France, and Enel have also filed applications to participate in the tender.

No timeframe has been set yet for filing final share purchase offers. The timeframe depends on the length of the ministerial study of the preliminary offers.

Last January, Gazprom sent a letter indicating its interest in purchasing state-held blocks of shares in Distrigaz Nord and Distrigaz Sud to the Romanian ministry.
