    TEHRAN, March 16, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- President of Iran Mohammad Khatami congratulated Vladimir Putin on the victory in the presidential elections and invited him to visit the Islamic Republic, reported the press service of the Iranian president's administration on Tuesday.

    In his message to the Russian president Mr. Khatami expressed hope that the Russo-Iranian relations in various spheres of bilateral coopeation, regional and international collaboration will continue to deepen in the new four-year term of Mr. Putin's presidency with mutual support and the available possibilities.

    At the presidential elections, which took place on March 14th Vladimir Putin, according to preliminary data, received more than 71 percent of electors' votes. The final results of the elections will be announced not later than March 25th.
