MAKHACHKALA, MARCH 16, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI). A terrorist act was prevented in the Khasavyurt (the republic of Dagestan, southern federal district of the Russian Federation) school No. 12, reported a source at the Dagestani interior ministry.
According to the source, the home-made explosive device weighing about 15 kg was found by the school's guard.
"The sappers of the Russian interior ministry's mobile detachment deployed in the Nozhai-Yurt district of Chechnya, who came to the place of the incident, rendered the bomb harmless," the agency's interlocutor said.
The explosive device consisted of an iron capacity filled with tar, where an aluminium powder and an explosive device mixture, 28 bolts and two electric detonators with in-built electric wires about 20 metres long were placed.
Investigation began, the republic's interior ministry reported.
