MOSCOW, March 15, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - On the initiative of the Chinese side, a telephone conversation took place on Monday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao, the Kremlin press service reported.
The PRC Chairman congratulated Vladimir Putin on "his landslide victory at the presidential elections." During the conversation both sides underscored their intentions to continue a dynamic work for the further expansion of many-sided Russian-Chinese cooperation.
They also expressed the satisfaction with this year's intensive schedule for bilateral contacts at all levels, the most important of which is the visit of the Russian President to China.
In connection with the question touched upon by Hu Jintao, Vladimir Putin has confirmed the position of Russia in support of China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, against Taiwan's independence in any form.
