MOSCOW, March 9 (RIA Novosti) - The new government will need a transitional period to adapt to the changes that have taken place, Russian Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Aleksei Gordeyev said on Tuesday.

"There are problems of the transitional period, but Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and the ministers have been charged with the task - to complete this process in the shortest possible time, change the mentality and management system, in order to fully adapt in one or two months," Aleksei Gordeyev said.

In his words, shifts in the government will surely result in staff reduction. "I will not speak about everything in detail, but, for example, such services as the economic management, accounting, servicing will be reduced during mergers," Mr. Gordeyev emphasized.

"If we speak about the modern requirements to the structure of the government, it's evident that the cabinet's new structure corresponds to the tasks set before the country," the minister added.
