YAKUTIA AND ALTAI READY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

The central election commissions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - the Russian autonomy in East Siberia - and of the Altai Territory are ready for the elections of the Russian President. The heads of the election commissions of these two regions reported about this to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia during a video conference held on Friday.

Vladimir Mikhailov, chairman of the CEC of Yakutia, said that apart from elections of the Russian president, bi-elections to bodies of local self-government will be held in 11 electoral constituencies and seven election districts, as well local referendums will be held in two municipalities.

Mikhailov said that about 500,000 people are planning to take part in the voting.

Seven polling stations and seven precinct electoral commissions, as well as early elections, were organized in remote and hard-to-access places of Yakutia. A total of 7,500 voters of the autonomous republic will participate in early voting.

In his turn chairperson of the Altai Territorial election commission Olga Agafonova reported that simultaneously with the elections of the Russian president, elections of 68 deputies to the Altai Territorial Council of People's Deputies, of the head of the administration of the Altai Territory, 63 heads of administrations of the regions and cities, deputies of representative bodies of power of districts and towns , 614 heads of administration of villages and settlements, and deputies to 712 village councils will be held in the Altai Territory.

A total of 77 territorial election commissions and 1,882 precinct electoral commissions have been formed here.

Agafonova is sure that over 60% of the voters will take part in the elections.
