MOSCOW, March 5, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - The new government will be only responsible for a narrow range of issues, including strategic development of the country, prime ministerial nominee Mikhail Fradkov said today in the Duma.
"This is the only way we can exclude the collective but shapeless relations in the government staff," said Mr. Fradkov whose candidacy is being considered at today's Duma session.
According to Mr. Fradkov, he has studied the structure of the former government for the purpose and found out that 25% of the functions were excessive in it.
