MOSCOW, March 4, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russia will take proper measures in connection with the deportation of two Russian diplomats from Lithuania, Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Eleonora Mitrofanova told journalists on Thursday.

"It is never late to take proper measures," she stressed.

According to Ms. Mitrofanova, the arguments of the Lithuanian side were not convincing. The Russian diplomats were allegedly aggressive while collecting the information. "All diplomats collect information," they are sent to foreign countries for this purpose, she noted.

In her words, today Lithuania sees everybody's struggle against everybody in the political sphere. This situation nullifies whatever advantages Lithuania gets after joining the European Union and NATO. They admit it themselves, Eleonora Mitrofanova said.
