MOSCOW, MADRID DISCUSS CULTURAL COOPERATION

MADRID, March 4, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Moscow and Madrid are discussing the possibility to hold Years of Culture of Russia and Spain, reads the final joint statement issued following the talks between the Russian and Spanish foreign ministers.

The sides pointed out positive development of bilateral economic relations and trade and investment exchanges.

Moscow and Madrid also highlighted the importance of military cooperation, in particular, in defense industry.

"Russia and Spain will be taking efforts to develop cooperation in the sphere of justice and the fight against terrorism, organized crime, illegal migration and drug trafficking in the context of Russia-EU relations," the document says.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the recent decision to form a Russian-Spanish working group to forward proposals on navigation security cooperation.
