RUSSIAN, BRAZILIAN FINANCIAL AUDIT BODIES INTEND TO COUNTER INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM FINANCING

MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Audit Chamber and the Brazilian Federal Senate speak for development of cooperation in the fight against the financing of international terrorism, says a press release of the Audit Chamber issued after a meeting of chamber head Sergei Stepashin with senate president Jose Sarney.

The meeting was held Wednesday in Brasilia as part of the Audit Chamber delegation's official visit.

"The interaction of the two bodies in the fight against the financing of international terrorism would meet the interests of both Russia and Brazil, who are together speaking for establishing a global system of countering new threats faced by civilized humanity in the twenty-first century," it was said at the meeting.

"The sides were unanimous that cooperation between the supreme state financial audit organs of the two countries is an important component of Russo-Brazilian relations," the press release emphasizes.

The sides also spoke for activation of the supreme audit institutions' cooperation "aimed at creating more favorable conditions for further development of business ties between Russia and Brazil and reciprocal improvement of the investment climate."
