SWEDEN TO OPEN CONSULATE GENERAL IN KALININGRAD

MOSCOW, March 2nd, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - Sweden's general consulate will soon be opened in Kaliningrad (Russia's exclave in the Baltics), Swedish Foreign Minister Laila Freivalds currently on a visit to Moscow said on Tuesday, as speaking to students of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In her words, people's free movement between the two countries and the growth in tourism play an important role in expanding Russo-Swedish ties.

We are facing a long-term task of achieving real progress in facilitating the visa regime and eliminating other obstacles hampering legal and free movement of people, stressed the Swedish foreign minister.
