MAKHACHKALA, March 1, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - The Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan (Chechnya's neighbor) carried out the identification of Chechen warlord Ruslan Gelayev's body on Monday.
Gelayev's body was taken to Makhachkala, Dagestan's capital, and identified by four out of eight formerly arrested militants from his gang, the department of the prosecutor's office involved in the investigation of the December invasion by Chechen militants to the Tsuntinsky district told RIA Novosti.
On Tuesday other arrested militants are likely to participate in the identification.
Gelayev was killed by Russian border guards on his way from Dagestan to Georgia on Saturday.
