MOSCOW, March 1 (RIA Novosti) - In accordance with a Ministry of Communications order beginning on March 1, Pochta Rossii (Mail of Russia), a Federal State Unitary enterprise, will begin functioning as a representative of the Express Mail Service (EMS) in Russia.
Previously, EMS Garantpost performed these functions.
Pochta Rossii will provide EMS services under a postal services license.
"International experience has demonstrated that an EMS operator must be closely linked with the national mail communication operator technologically," a spokesman for Pochta Rossii said.
More than 40,000 post offices in Russia provide EMS services.
The EMS system includes more than 200 member-countries of the World Post Union.
