MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 27 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Some 4,600 illegal migrants were deported out of the Moscow Region last year - five times as many as in any of the few previous years. None of the related court decisions were appealed against, with all the proceedings financed from the regional coffers, the Moscow Region's government information board told RIA.

A foreigner seeking to stay in Russia for more than three months can do so only if he/she gets a temporary residence permit. One year after that, aspirants may apply for permanent residence permits.

The procedure of granting Russian citizenship to Belarussian, Kyrghyz and Kazakh nationals was facilitated considerably last year. Migrants from those three former Soviet republics may now obtain dual citizenship if they wish, provided that they produce a migrant card and a document certifying to their emigration from the country of origin.
