MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) -- Russia has sent an inquiry to Switzerland asking for the citizenship of the person suspected of killing a Skyguide air traffic controller.

Alexander Yakovenko, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the Russian Embassy in Switzerland had not received an official answer from the Swiss authorities yet.

"I have just contacted the Russian Embassy in Switzerland. It does not have any official answer to its inquiry on the citizenship of the suspect yet," Mr. Yakovenko said.

"If it turns out that the suspect is a Russian citizen, he will get all the necessary consultations," Mr. Yakovenko said.

According to Mr. Yakovenko, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in Bern are closely following the developments of the murder of Peter Nilsen, a Skyguide air traffic controller.
