SLAVIC CULTURE EVENT IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, February 27, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Gamlet Matevosyan) - A Slavic culture event will take place on February 27 in Yerevan.

The director of the Armenian Russian Language Center, Gurgen Barikyan, told RIA Novosti that the guests at this event will hear Maslenitsa, a pre-Christian Slavic holiday, songs and excerpts from the ancient poem, "Song of Igor's Campaign." The program also contains other kinds of entertainment.

At the end of the evening song and dance companies from the Belorussian, the Russian and the Ukrainian communities in Armenia will perform.

Representatives from Yerevan State University, the Yerevan Valery Bryusov State Linguistic University, the Russian-Armenian State University and the embassies of the Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine and Bulgaria will participate in this event.
