RUSSIAN COMPANY TO SAVE ITALIAN ROMA FROM BANKRUPTCY

ROME, February 24, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - President of Italian Roma football club Franco Sensi confirmed the information on the negotiations, concerning Russian company's intention to buy out his team.

"It's true that we are holding negotiations, but they may take a long time," the 77-year-old boss of the Roma, whose share of the bonds is 63.77%, disclosed.

In his interview with La Gazetta dello Sport Mr. Sensi said that in any case he would remain the honorable President of the club.

According to the newspaper, at the end of the last year the Russian company Nafta-Moskva initiated negotiations concerning the purchase of the Roma's controlling block of stock, which was estimated at 400 mln euros. Various sources disclose that the total amount of Roma's debts is estimated at approximately 500 mln euros.

Last year famous Russian financial tycoon, one of the Sibneft co-owners, Roman Abramovich, purchased British football club Chelsea.
